WhoFi does not collect, store, or share any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, and no server operated by us.
Network scan. To list the devices on your Wi-Fi, WhoFi looks only inside your own local network: it listens for the services devices advertise (Bonjour/mDNS), sends small ICMP "ping" and TCP connection probes to addresses on your subnet, and reads router-provided names (reverse DNS). All of this stays on your local network and is used only to build the on-screen list.
Device list, names and history. The devices WhoFi finds, any names or groups you assign, and your scan history are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded. If you use Export or Share, the file goes only to the destination you choose.
Router and network details. The router and device information shown in the app is read locally on your device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else.
iPhone cannot read MAC addresses. iOS does not expose other devices' hardware (MAC) addresses to apps, so WhoFi does not have them and cannot use them to identify or track anyone.
No analytics or telemetry. No advertising and no ad SDKs. No account, sign-in, or email collection. No tracking of any kind. Nothing about your network ever leaves your device.
Local Network — required to discover the devices on your Wi-Fi (Bonjour, ping and
connection probes). Used only to build your device list. The app also advertises and
looks for its own Bonjour service (_whofi._tcp) purely to detect whether you have
granted this permission, so it can explain why a scan would otherwise come back empty.
Location (optional) — Apple requires location permission before an app may read the name (SSID) of the connected Wi-Fi network. WhoFi uses it only to label the network you're scanning. Your coordinates are never read, stored, or transmitted. Declining it only means the network's name won't be shown; the scan works fully without it.
WhoFi offers one optional one-time purchase, "WhoFi Pro." Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. There is no subscription.
The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date. Since the app collects no data, changes are unlikely.
